When you create a post while logged in, the generated link is associated with your account. When someone views your post, we show them ads, and a portion of revenue generated from ads on your posts are paid to you.
This is subject (and likely) to change, as we're currently prototyping various means to obtain metrics and calculate the payout amounts.
Currently, we're using a simple formula:
(Your Monthly Total Views / Site Total Monthly Views) * (Total Site Revenue - Total Site Costs) * 0.80
That is, we take the net revenus (after expenses) and take your percentage of that net (your views / total site views). This is the net revenue you have generated from your posts. We then take 20% of that and pay the rest to you.
We are experimenting with using serverless functions so we can calculate the costs associated with each individual post for more accurate calculation, however this may not be feasible, as serverless computation has additional overhead and it could result in less net profit (for you and us). Percentages may also change, as we are still experimenting with various models. However the goal is to distribute the majority of the revenue to users, as we believe that is the best way to grow the platform.
